Tuesday November 5, 2024, Anne Seften leaves LCI permanently. In question, an altercation during the 30th anniversary of the channel. The Club Seften journalist allegedly slapped her editor, Nicolas Sengers, leading to an internal investigation. A sudden departure for the journalist, in post since 2021.
It's over for Anne Seften. The journalist, who presents The Club Seften Monday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. has left the group TF1owner of the channel LCIfor which she worked. Asked by Puremédiasthe news channel confirmed this decision on Tuesday, November 5, 2024: elle “will no longer return to the air and has left the company”.
Anne Seften is a seasoned journalist. She notably worked for Canal+, Europe 1 but also L’Express or even M6. How can we explain his hasty departure from TNT channel 26? The decision would follow an altercation, with its publishing head, Nicolas Sengers, on the occasion of an evening organized on September 19. During 30 years of the channelthe journalist “would have slapped Nicolas Sengers”, explained media journalist Clément Garin on X, then specifying that he had received a testimony from a witness: “Everything was going well when we heard screaming. Anne was yelling at Nicolas, slapped him and security took them out“. In post since August 2021, the journalist made her last appearance on screen on Thursday October 24, 2024, before being replaced by Thomas Misrachi then by Bénédicte Le Chatelier, who left the channel as recently as this summer.
A private dispute at the origin of the altercation?
The departure of Anne Seften follows a “internal procedure started a few weeks ago”. The human resources department and the social affairs department wanted to open an internal investigation to find out more about the circumstances which pushed the journalist to slap her colleague on the evening of September 19, 2024. According to comments collected by Clément Garin, the procedure, which was carried out “with respect for everyone’s privacy and with a concern for the protection of employees” would have concluded a private dispute. But this does not pass for the TF1 group, which published the conclusions of the investigation. For her part, the journalist, who allegedly made this gesture under the influence of alcohol, wished the opening of an investigation for moral harassment on the part of his colleague. For the moment, no definitive name has been announced to take over the 3 p.m./5 p.m. time slot, previously occupied by Anne Seften.
