This Tuesday, November 5, the Auchan group, which employs around 54,000 people in France, presented a vast social plan planning to cut 2,389 jobs, including 784 positions in headquarters and 915 positions in its stores, Actu.fr tells us.
The Auchan Hypermarket in Bar-le-Duc deemed unprofitable
Unfortunately, the Meuse is not spared, with the announcement of the upcoming closure of the hypermarket Auchan of Bar-le-Duc, located at 1 Route de Longeville N66, it is part of one of the three targeted hypermarkets at the national level, with those of Clermont-Ferrand Nord (Puy-de-Dôme) and Woippy (Moselle).
With this restructuring plan, 466 positions will be eliminated in total in the ten Auchan stores “ deemed unprofitable”. It is in this condition that the closure of the Auchan in Bar-le-Duc falls. This represents a considerable loss of jobs for the region, where the labor market is already fragile.
Support measures promised by Auchan
In order to limit outright layoffs, Auchan offers a set of support measures, including retraining training, reclassification leave, a voluntary departure plan, as well as creation of 114 positions in the activities of “ drive » et 205 within thesupport functions.
This restructuring comes after years of financial difficulties for Auchan, marked by a net loss of almost a billion euros over the first six months of 2024.
