Important victory for Metz on the Ajaccio pitch after a generally dominated match at the end of the 12th day of Ligue 2.
No time to worry, Metz, who suffered a defeat on the Red Star pitch (1-0), found success in Ajaccio. Better yet, Messins put an end to a series of three away losses. Thanks to this valuable success, the Messins climbed to 5th place with 21 points, while the ACA, beaten for the first time at home this season, remained stuck in 16th place with 11 points.
For this trip to Corsica, Lorraine coach Stéphane Le Mignan made a strong choice by starting Pape Sy, preferred to Alexandre Oukidja, downgraded due to several blunders, the last of which cost FC Metz the match (1-0 defeat against at Red Star). Returning to the cage after the Senegalese goalkeeper's injury after 25 minutes, Oukidja ultimately largely contributed to his team's success by making a few saves, including an exceptional one on Christopher Ibayi's point-blank recovery (70th).
A logical victory
The success of the Lorraines is not illogical given the nature of the match. After a diligent start, the Corsicans slowed down and opened the gaps into which their hitherto harmless opponents rushed.
It was on a big mistake that the latter opened the scoring, Gauthier Hein taking advantage of an unsteady back pass from Julien Anziani to his goalkeeper François-Joseph Sollacaro to score without opposition, just after the half hour mark. (31st). Galvanized by this fortunate twist of fate, the Lorraines then created several opportunities to make the break but came up against Sollacaro who kept the ACA in the match, without however managing to avoid the defeat of his team, who no longer won since the 6th day (4 defeats, one draw).
