The main suspect in the murder of Philippine, the student who disappeared on September 20 after leaving classes in and whose body was found in the de Boulogne the next day, will be extradited from Switzerland to this Wednesday , according to information from CNews since confirmed by BFMTV and AFP.

Taha O. was in fact arrested by the Swiss authorities at the Geneva station on September 24. French authorities subsequently issued an extradition request on October 9. The suspect, although he initially refused this principle, ultimately agreed to be extradited to French territory.

He was heard again this Monday by the public prosecutor of the canton of Geneva and confirmed his consent to a surrender to France according to a simplified extradition procedure, the Paris prosecutor's office indicated.

Failure to comply with a residence order

As a reminder, Taha O. had already been convicted by French justice in 2021 for rape, before being released in June 2024 “at the end of his sentence”, according to the Paris prosecutor's office. In total, he had spent almost five years in prison (if we count the years on remand) out of the seven years to which he was initially sentenced. Under an “obligation to leave French territory” (OQTF) since June 18, he had been placed in an administrative detention center (CRA) in . But upon his release, he never went to the hotel where he was under house arrest in Yonne at the beginning of September. A few days later, the Philippine student disappeared.
