With its double podium during the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, Alpine hit the jackpot sportingly… and also financially? The incredible result of the French team allowed the A arrow to jump in the ranking. Only 9th in the Manufacturers' Championship with 14 points before the Brazilian round, the French clan climbed to 6th place with 49 units, including 35 registered over this weekend alone in São Paulo.
An accounting jackpot in the championship, and possibly a financial jackpot at the end of the season. The “prize money” system – a reward awarded according to the ranking of each team in the Constructors’ championship – being thus done in Formula 1, a jump of three places in the ranking could have consequences (positive, obviously) on the money received by Alpine at the end of this 2024 campaign.
30 million euros more?
Indeed, even if the sums awarded remain secret, the difference between 9th place and 6th place in the Manufacturers' ranking could amount to almost 30 million euros. A data confirmed by Flavio Briatore on Sunday, after the Brazilian Grand Prix. “It’s 29.2 million (euros). It's the first thing I asked.”affirmed the Italian leader, who became executive advisor to Alpine this summer, to Sky Sports Italy.
Alpine still needs to maintain this 6th place until the end of the season, that is to say until the arrival of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 8… and the competition will be fierce against Haas and Racing Bulls. If the A arrow signed a resounding feat at Interlagos, in terms of pure performance, the French team still seems to be slightly behind its two opponents. Nevertheless, the A524 has regained some form since the arrival of new developments in the United States in mid-October, with three passages in Q3 during the last three race weekends.
