The news is deafening. A dramatic accident claimed the life of Thierry Bailly, the mayor of the commune of Blyein the Jura, this Saturday November 2, 2024. The chosen one would have died during a logging accident in one of the forests of the commune.
Elected mayor of the small village of nearly 160 habitants in 2001, he served his fourth term. Retired, he was also treasurer of theassociation of forest communities of Jura. Married and aged 63, he was the father of three children.

Same emotion for Sandrine Gauthier-Pacoud, president of the Association of Mayors of Jura and mayor of Mesnoisneighboring commune of Blye. “I knew Thierry Bailly well, because our children went to school together. Thierry was also president of the parents' association. He was very close to his children. His great pride and joy was to marry your daughter last spring,” continues the president of the AMJ.
Thierry Bailly was a very discreet person, but who knew where he wanted to go. He invested enormously in his community. His absence will leave a big void within his municipal council.
Danielle Brulebois, MP for the first constituency of Jura, paid tribute to Thierry Bailly on his social networks. ” With pragmatism et selflessnesshe put all his energy and many qualities in the service of a territory and its commune to which he was deeply attached. With him disappears a respectful man of others and attentive to everyone, with unfailing availability and commitment.”
His funeral will take place this Friday November 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Blye Church, without flowers or wreaths.
