The author Camel Daoud won the Goncourt Prize 2024with his novel “Houris”, Monday November 4, 2024. 100,000 copies of the book will be printed Normandie Roto Impression (NRI)a printing works in Orne, located in Lonrai, at the gates of Alençon.
Launch of presses upon announcement
Of the 1:00 p.m.just after the price announcement, the presses began their work. “We're like everyone else, we listen to the information, and we start printing based on the result,” says Christophe Pillon, general manager of Normandie Roto Impression.
This is the eighth Goncourt printed by the Ornaise company.
Part of the draw
After the jury's first selection, four novels were still in the race. However, none of them had been printed in Lonrai. “It is customary for the winner to be printed where it has already been for the first copies,” explains the director who had not initially obtained the first prints of the winner.
But the house Gallimardwhich publishes Kamed Daoud's novel, has decided to entrust the printing of 100,000 works of the Goncourt prize to NRI. “It’s true that we have printed eight Goncourt prizes over the last ten years, so we have a certain expertise. It’s a guarantee of confidence,” continues Christophe Pillon.
The first trucks will leave tomorrow morning deliver to bookstores throughout France.
