Roberto De Zerbi, OM coach, praised the reaction of Mason Greenwood, scorer in (1-2) on Sunday a week after his failed match against PSG.

Mason Greenwood (23) put on his hero clothes again on Sunday. The English striker gave OM victory in Nantes (1-2) with a dry strike from the edge of the penalty area (61st). A goal which comes a week after his insipid performance during the shock against PSG (0-3) during which he was replaced at half-time by his coach Roberto De Zerbi, very angry at his lack of involvement. On Sunday, the Italian technician radically changed his tune by praising the performance of the former Manchester United player.

“Tonight, I was not surprised by Greenwood”

“I was surprised by Greenwood last week because he didn’t play well,” he said. “He was far from his standards. Tonight, I wasn't surprised by Greenwood. Above all, he's a great guy. He's very committed and always gives everything he has. He's a player very strong and which makes the difference for OM.”

Sunday, the England international (1 cap) scored his seventh goal of the season in ten games (for two assists). This allows OM to regain second place in the championship, six points behind leader PSG.

“I am satisfied with the team's match, with its reaction after the defeat against PSG,” added De Zerbi at a press conference. “With the team, we wanted to have these 20 points and to be second today. At the moment, this second place means nothing but it counts if I look back. If I'm not mistaken, the OM finished 8th last season and today we are second with the second best attack and with a huge margin for improvement.
