The new kids of rock. In 2004, we headlined an imposing article on young fans of big guitar sound and their favorite groups. Among them, we cited Korn, Placebo, Muse, Pleymo and of course Linkin Park. The teenagers of the time have become adults who are already nostalgic. There were a certain number of them this Sunday evening to witness the miraculous return of the American group which we thought was definitively buried after the suicide of its screamer singer Chester Bennington in 2017 at the age of 41. Tragic destiny for this artist too often caught up in his addictions. Constrained and forced, Linkin Park could not a priori survive its singer.
And yet, a few weeks ago, the musicians announced their return with… a screaming singer this time: Emily Armstrong who was already giving voice and scream among the obscure Dead Sara. On the program: a new album – “From Zero” expected on November 15 – and above all a new tour which took place this Sunday evening at the immense Paris La Défense Arena – almost 40,000 people – filled in just a few minutes. Proof that this return goes well beyond the effect of curiosity but resembles a real generational craze as the reformations of The Police, Telephone and soon Oasis have been over time.
