Dolberg, still as effective from the penalty spot
If the players entered under fireworks, the game was not a great spectacle in the first period. The Mauves are alone on the field against a ghostly Kortrijk team. Ander Dreyer and Killian Sardella regularly pierce the opposing right side, but the Brussels residents have difficulty directly worrying Tom Vandenberghe. A Kortrijk foot drags in fact each time in the right place at the right time, preventing Sardella or Jan-Carlo Simić from finding the target.
We had to wait until the end of the first period to see the RSCA materialize its domination. Haruya Fujii causes a penalty after foul contact on Moussa N’Diaye at the edge of the area; every eleven meters, Kasper Dolberg does not tremble and takes Vandenberghe on the wrong foot to open the scoring (1-0, 37th). In the process, Majeed Ashimeru, injured, was forced to give up his place prematurely for Yari Verschaeren.
Three more goals and banners
Faced with an opponent who offers no panache, Anderlecht definitely takes shelter after returning from the locker room. On a corner, Haruya Fujii first deflects Zanka’s header into his own camp (2-0, 50th). A few minutes later, Mario Stroeykens drives the point home by completing a nice Brussels combination in the area (3-0, 57th).
The last half hour saw David Hubert’s team slow down and continue passing sequences against the resigned Courtraisians. On a free kick at the edge of the area, Dolberg finds the net directly to improve his statistics and seal the final score (4-0, 77th).
Without straining its talent, Sporting was largely successful in its evening both in terms of score and manner. The only downside for the purple board: the banners by a group of supporters against president Wouter Vandenhaute and sports director Olivier Renard. Next week, Anderlecht will travel to Cercle Bruges.
