Alan Shearer has predicted Everton to get a win against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Toffees will visit St Mary’s Stadium on 2 November, with the hosts winless in the league and sitting bottom of the table.

In his prediction for The Metro [1 November]Shearer said he is confident the Blues will get the job done away from home and feels Sean Dyche’s experience will be vital in doing so.

“It’s another huge game down toward the bottom of the Premier League, but very much like Everton did a couple of weeks ago at Ipswich, I see them taking all three points,” Shearer wrote.

“They are streetwise, Sean Dyche has been around the block, and they know how to go to teams like Southampton and get results. I’ll go for an Everton win.”

Everton need win over Southampton

The Goodison faithful have endured some tumultuous years, seeing their team fighting for survival in the Premier League.

With the points deduction Everton faced in the previous campaign, there was fear amongst the fanbase of being relegated.

Dyche has managed to keep the club up for now, and the English manager’s time at Burnley undoubtedly gave him the wherewithal to manage in these challenging situations.

The Toffees started the season poorly, losing the opening four fixtures in the league this season and having just one point after five games.

Since then, Dyche has managed to steady the ship, and the Blues are now five unbeaten in the Premier League, a feat that has to be commended.

Southampton were promoted back to the English top flight for this season, and Russel Martin’s team have struggled to adjust to the standards.

The game at St Mary’s is a chance for Everton to increase the gap from the relegation zone, with Dyche’s team currently 16th in the table, and a win would allow them to look up at the top half.

In other Everton news, Nottingham Forest have been inspired by the Blues as Real Madrid and Arsenal eye their player.
