Buses were set on fire and projectiles were thrown at the police. A police officer was notably injured during the intervention.
On the night of Friday, November 1, Rillieux-La-Pape (Rhône) was once again the scene of urban violence. The day after a first round of violence on October 31, buses were this time set on fire and the police were targeted with projectiles, reports RTL.
In total, “around twenty individuals” stoned two buses in the Lyon metropolitan area before setting them on fire. The police present on site were then targeted by projectiles. A police officer was notably injured in the face, specifies the source.
Minor individuals
According to the mayor of the town, the group of individuals would be composed mainly of minors. He stated on Facebook that “these delinquents, all minors, and their parents, are exposed to the suspension of optional aid from the municipality and the municipal social action center”.
Furthermore, the prefect of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Rhône region announced Friday evening on Twitter the sending of CRS reinforcements to Rillieux-La-Pape. She also assured that an investigation was underway to find the perpetrators of the violence. The town suffered a second consecutive night of violence after that which occurred on Thursday, October 31, during Halloween evening.
