A race against time had been underway since Saturday October 26, 2024 in Haute-Corse, when a man and his labrador were missing. They had gone into the forest to pick mushrooms, at Isulacciu di Fium'Orbu. The weather conditions were very poor, and the missing man did not have his cell phone with him.
The search lasted all weekend in pouring rain and at around 1,000 meters of altitude, without success, despite reinforcements from the gendarmerie companies of Corte and Bastia, the high mountain gendarmerie platoon, two dog teams. from Borgo and Salon-de-Provence, as well as firefighters and citizen volunteers.
His dog protected him from the cold
The emergency services and relatives of the missing man, aged 49, feared the worst. The search system was further strengthened on Monday October 28 with the deployment of the helicopter from the Ajaccio gendarmerie aerial section, thanks to the calm in the weather.
Finally, thanks to this aerial means, the missing person was able to be located. Pierre-Albert Spaccesi was able to be airlifted and brought back safely. He was not alone: his labrador was also rescued. The missing man declared that he resisted the cold thanks to the presence of his animal, against whom he was snuggled up the two nights he spent in nature.
