“Aymeric had difficulty in mathematics. He was not incompetent, but he simply had problems in two areas: geometry and trigonometry.” It’s a dad, a bit bored, who wanted to clarify things with the Belgian press. Indeed, to our colleagues from NewsbaldPrince Laurent of Belgium was keen to explain the reasons which pushed Aymeric, one of his sons, to leave the Royal School of Non-Commissioned Officers of Saffraanberg (south-east of Brussels) which he had joined in the last summer times. After careful consideration, “we didn’t want him to become demotivated. He wasn’t yet, but he would have been if he had stayed there. From what my sons told me, Many students have already given up, some on the first day of school, but Aymeric still held on until the fall holidays.
King Philippe’s brother adds that his 18-year-old son (he will celebrate his 19th birthday on December 13), who was destined for social and military sciences, should have followed a year of specialization before joining the institution, which he did not know. But Prince Laurent assures: “To be clear: our son loves the army. He made a lot of friends and felt good there.”
To remedy this situation, the family is now considering a seventh year of specialization in Brussels, with the aim of better preparing Aymeric for the required level in mathematics for this university which is part of the traditional course of the royal family. Meanwhile, his twin brother Nicolas continued his training in Saffraanberg, in preparation for studies in engineering. But then what will the young prince be able to do in the meantime? A ready-made paternal response: Aymeric could become a tennis coach for the children, he who loves the little yellow ball so much. In the meantime, the young man takes the opportunity to have a good time with his group of friends and especially Gersende, a pretty blonde, a student like him but in Paris, who makes his heart beat and with whom he is not afraid to show off on his social networks.
