A 5-year-old girl was the victim of an early drowning on October 17 during a swimming lesson at the Robert-Flavier swimming pool in Lansargues, near Montpellier, reports Free Midday. She was playing in the fun pool, under the supervision of three lifeguards.

An investigation has been opened

One of them noticed she was chatting with her brother, asking for a floating fry. “A few seconds later, he saw that the little girl was motionless at the bottom of the water,” reports the Pays de l’Or urban community in a press release dated October 28.

The lifeguard immediately dove in to rescue her, and the two other lifeguards took over, performing cardiac massage and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. She started breathing again before being taken care of by the firefighters and the Smur. She was hospitalized for a few days before returning home. An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie.
