FC Barcelona’s Spanish striker Lamine Yamal received the Raymond Kopa trophy, which rewards the best football player under the age of 21 of the past year, during the Ballon d’Or Ceremony on Monday evening in .

Barely 17 years old, Yamal became one of the stars of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team last season. The Spanish striker scored seven goals and provided nine assists in fifty games for his club last season and hasn’t missed the start of the season either. In 14 games, he has already provided seven assists and scored six goals, including one in Barça’s dry 0-4 Clasico victory in Madrid against Real on Saturday.

Last summer, Yamal (17 caps) was crowned European champion with Spain in Germany and was voted best young player of the tournament. He also scored the best goal of the tournament in the semi-final against .

The Spaniard succeeds the Englishman on the list Jude Bellingham. Kylian Mbappé was the first winner in 2018. Matthijs de Ligt (2019), Pedro (2021) et Gavi (2022) also won this prize for best young person.
