Erik ten Hag is no longer coach of Manchester United, the club reports. Manchester United dropped to fourteenth place in the Premier League after the defeat against West Ham United.

Ten Hag has been at the helm of Manchester since 2022. In the competition it was not possible to join the top. Manchester United did win the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup last season.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future,” the club website said.

Van Nistelrooy

Ruud van Nistelrooij is put forward as interim coach. The club reports that it is looking for a new head coach.

The club's former striker was added to the technical staff of Ten Hag this summer, which gathered more Dutch people around it with René Hake and goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar.

This summer, the club invested more than 200 million euros in new players such as Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte, yet the team showed little improvement at the start of the third season under Ten Hag. Four of the first nine games in the Premier League were lost, compared to three wins.
