Kelly Rowland and her Destiny’s Child sister Beyoncé made a much-anticipated appearance on Friday in Houston at Kamala Harris‘ “Reproductive Rights” rally, the latest in the Vice President’s campaign for president. The pair was introduced by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, who affectionately referred to Rowland as one of her bonus daughters, though the two are not biologically related.
“I have been so blessed in my life in my life to have many careers, many Black jobs,” Knowles said, referencing a “Black jobs” comment from former president Donald Trump. “But I have said before, the best job that I ever had was being a mother. I’ve had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters, and I also take immense pride in being Mama Tina to so many young women and men.” The “four daughters” she mentioned include her biological children, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, as well as her niece Angie Beyince and Rowland.
After the introduction from Knowles, who was wearing a black suit with a cinched waist, prominent shoulders and the Schiaparelli pierced mouth brooch, Beyoncé and Rowland took to the stage hand-in-hand.
For their looks, Rowland wore an oversized suit from Fear of God‘s spring 2025 collection. The striped piece featured no visible buttons. Stylist Wilford Lenov, who has been putting Rowland in a series of oversized tailoring often pulling from Jerry Lorenzo’s designs, paired the suit with a shirt and tie from Amiri. For shoes, Rowland wore a black satin heel with a small platform.
Beyonce also opted for statement tailoring. Styled by Shiona Turini, she wore a blazer dress from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s recently released collaboration with Wardrobe.NYC. Under the minidress, which is double breasted and features a tightly tailored waist, she wore the line’s sculpted mini skirt. Turini paired it with jewelry form Tiffany & Co. as well as Jimmy Choo heels from the label’s drop series.
Oversized tailoring has been slowly reemerging as a red carpet style trend. After the TikTok-fueled “office siren” trend, some celebrities and brands have been going bigger. The Saint Laurent spring 2025 show notably pushed the style for women and was worn recently by Hailey Bieber to her Rhode “Barrier Butter” launch party. Earlier this week, Spanish actress Paz Vega also wore an oversized grey suit from Sportmax to the Madrid premiere of “Rita.”
