Vatican City, Oct 25 (EFE).- Pope Francis received this Friday in an audience in the Vatican the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, with whom he met for just over half an hour, the Holy See reported.
Metsola, who during his visit to Rome also met on Thursday with the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, was received at the pontifical library by Francis at 9:08 a.m. local time (7:08 GMT) and the meeting ended at 9:40 a.m. (7:40 GMT) , indicates the Vatican press room.
After the private meeting, the presentation of gifts took place: the Pope donated a terracotta sculpture titled ‘Tenderness and Love’, this year’s Message of Peace and other papal documents, while the President of the European Parliament gave him to the pontiff a ceramic plate decorated with a musical score.
Metsola met this Thursday with Meloni at the headquarters of the Italian Government, where they addressed, among others, “the main issues on the international agenda” such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine or the crisis in the Middle East, according to Executive sources.
