Opposed to Saint-Chamond this Friday, October 25, 2024, Caen Basket Calvados was still looking for its first away victory of the season. Kentan Facey's teammates started the match very well, but still had to work hard to come back victorious (73-79).
The dreamed first quarter
Stéphane Eberlin's men started the match strong thanks in particular to Kentan Facey who scored four points in six minutes (6-13, 6'). The gap increases further when Mounir Bernaoui continues the work coming off the bench. Caen has a twelve-point lead after the first quarter (10-22, 10′).
Back on the floor, Kentan Facey continues his offensive work. He starts by converting a basket with the mistake, then he perfectly finds Yann Siegwarth at three points to give Caen BC even more of a lead (15-30, 13'). But the end of the second quarter was very much in favor of the locals who passed a 19-7 to the Cébécistes who only returned to the locker room with one possession in advance (34-37, 20').
A mental victory
Saint-Chamond took the lead at the start of the third quarter (45-43, 24′), but the Caennais were under the pedal. They pass a 12-3 to their opponent to have a two possession lead before the last ten minutes (51-57, 30′).
The locals try to come back quickly in the last quarter, but the Caennais remain in the lead and maintain a small cushion (57-63, 33′). But a few minutes from the end of the match, the Normandy attack stalled and Saint-Chamond came back to score (67-69, 37′). Stéphane Eberlin takes a little time to re-mobilize everyone and on the way out, Wendell Davis Jr, in very good form during this meeting, converted a big three points to give Caen BC some fresh air (67-72, 38'). This same Wendell Davis then has the opportunity to increase the score on a technical foul, but misses the free throw. Saint-Chamond was forced to send the Caennais to the line and Pierre Hannequin converted his two attempts to give Caen BC two full possessions in advance (68-74, 39').
Thanks to this victory, the Caennais regain a balanced record before continuing on Tuesday October 29, 2024 against Nantes.
