The Turkish Interior Minister announced Wednesday that a “terrorist” attack in Ankara left “dead and injured” in front of the headquarters of Turkey's defense industries.

A “terrorist” attack in Ankara left “dead and injured” on Wednesday in front of the headquarters of Turkey's defense industries, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced.

“A terrorist attack was perpetrated against TUSAS facilities in Ankara. Unfortunately, we had martyrs and injuries in this attack,” the minister said on X.

The attack not claimed at this stage

According to the Habertürk television channel, which reports “hostages”, without further details, the attack is still in progress. The private television channel NTV also reported gunshots after the explosion which occurred around 4 p.m. local time. The operation has not been claimed at this stage.

A major defense and aerospace industries exhibition is being held this week in Istanbul, which notably saw the visit of the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The defense sector, including the famous Bayraktar drones, represented nearly 80% of the country's export revenues and $10.2 billion for the year 2023
