For several days, France has been facing rainfall deemed “exceptional” by meteorologists. Among the departments placed on orange vigilance, that of Pyrénées-Atlantiques. This alert has also led elected officials to make decisions to ensure the safety of residents.
Indeed, as reported Actu.frthe town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz in particular, located between the ocean and the mountains, has decided to prohibit access to several beaches on its coastline but also to the Jacques Thibaud promenade, which borders the seafront .
Five beaches and a promenade prohibited from access
Until this Saturday 10 a.m., pedestrians will no longer be able to circulate on this esplanade, nor go to five beaches in the city: La Grande plage, Lafitenia, Erromardi, Mayarco and finally, Senix beach.
In a recent bulletin published this Friday on its site, Météo-France also warns of the significant floods which are expected during high tides, downstream of the Adour and the Nive. The rest of the South-West must still be vigilant due to the lasting rain which is expected to fall in the coming hours.
