Wednesday October 16, 2024, the King and Queen of the Belgians will be in , from 1 p.m. Parking restrictions and streets closed to traffic are put in place. A visit to celebrate the friendship of the two countries, the opportunity to see the royal couple in town.

Valérie Létard, Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal, will welcome, on behalf of the Government, the King and Queen of the Belgians on the occasion of their visit to France from October 14 to 16, 2024. A trip to celebrate the friendship which unites France and Belgium but also to deepen the bilateral defense and security relationship, economic and commercial exchanges as well as academic, scientific and innovation cooperation.

  • In Lille, from 1 p.m., residents are invited by the prefecture to gather on Place du Théâtre, in front of the Opera. After the Opera, the royal couple will have lunch and then must go to Euratechnologies. At the end of the afternoon, they will be welcomed at the Prefecture.
  • Meet around 5:40 p.m., Place de la République. A military departure ceremony will take place at 6:10 p.m.

The presidential couple welcomes the Belgian King Philippe and his wife Queen Mathilde to the Elysée Palace on October 14, 2024.

For security reasons, the prefecture has set up “a protection perimeter”.

Parking is prohibited, Wednesday October 16, 2024 until 7 p.m., in the following streets :

Rue Inkermannrue Jacquemars Giélée (between rue Jean Sans Peur and place de la République), rue Léon Gambetta (between Place de la République and Rue du Maire André), rue Gauthier de Chatillon (between rue Nicolas Leblanc and rue de Valmy), Republic Square (to the right of the Prefecture and between rue Léon Gambetta and rue Nicolas Leblanc), rue Jean Sans Peur (between rue Jacquemars Giélée and boulevard de la Liberté), Liberty Boulevard (between Place de la République and Rue Jean Sans Peur, to the right of the prefecture), boulevard Carnot (between rue des Arts and place du Théâtre), rue Léon Trulin, rue des Arts (between boulevard Carnot and rue Anatole France), rue Anatole France, rue des Bons Enfants, rue de la Quenette, rue Faidherbe, rue des Ponts de Comines, rue de (between rue À Fiens and rue de la Quenette), rue À Fiens.

A ban which concerns all motorized vehicles, including two wheels on Boulevard Carnot, to the right of the Opera. Taxis will not be able to park in the waiting area located rue Léon Trulin.

Streets closed to traffic from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.:

Rue des Arts (between boulevard Carnot and rue Anatole France), rue Faidherbe, rue Anatole France (between rue Léon Trulin and rue de la Quenette), boulevard Carnot (between rue Léon Trulin and place du Théâtre), rue Léon Trulin, rue des Bons Enfants, rue des Ponts de Comines, rue de Roubaix (between rue des À Fiens and rue de la Quenette), rue de la Quenette, place de la Gare (between rue du Molinel and rue des Buisses), rue Pierre Mauroy (except local residents, between rue du Molinel and place du Théâtre), rue des Manneliers, square in front of the Saint-Maurice Church (except local residents).

Streets closed to traffic from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.:

Rue Inkermann, rue Jacquemars Gielee (between rue Jean Sans Peur and rue Inkermann), rue Gauthier de Chatillon (between rue Inkermann and rue de Valmy), Republic Square (under the law of the prefecture), rue Léon Gambetta (between Place de la République and Rue du Maire André).

Micro-traffic outages may occur, place des BuissesWednesday October 16 between 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A diversion towards Avenue Willy-Brandt will be made.
