Algeria – After a positive doping test, a Belgian-Moroccan athlete was suspended for 10 months by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Moroccan kickboxer Jamal Ben Saddik is going through a difficult period following his suspension for doping. Last March, the Glory organization announced that Ben Saddik had tested positive for clomiphene, a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Initially, he faced a twelve-month suspension, but the sanction was reduced to ten months after the fighter provided proof that he had been prescribed the substance for medical reasons.

This is the third doping sanction for Ben Saddik, who had already been punished in 2015 and 2022. In addition to these incidents, he received a six-month suspension for an unsportsmanlike gesture against his rival, Rico Verhoeven, during of an altercation in the ring. The current suspension prevents the kickboxer from returning to the ring before 2025.

Outside of sport, Jamal Ben Saddik faces legal problems. Last June, he was sentenced to forty months in prison for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping case linked to drug trafficking activities. Although he appealed the decision, he was conditionally released pending further legal proceedings.
