P. Diddy affair: he “made mistakes in the past” but is not “the monster they portrayed”, the rapper’s mother defends her son

While the lawyers of P. Diddy, rapper accused of sexual assault, will request his release on bail on October 9, the rapper’s mother sent a press release to the media to defend her son.

In a press release relayed this Monday, October 7 by several media, including the Daily Mail, Janice Smalls Combs, the mother of rapper P. Diddy, defends her sonaccused of sexual assault by 120 victims including minors. He has “made mistakes in the past, like all of us”without being “the monster they portrayed”she said, adding that ““It’s heartbreaking to see my son being judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created from lies.”

In November 2023, singer Cassie, the rapper’s ex, was the first to file a complaint against the man whose real name is Sean Combs. She then accused him of rape, sex trafficking and physical violence and a compromise was found to settle the matter amicably.

“It’s really distressing to see the world turn against my son based on lies”

Selon Janice Smalls Combs, “Sometimes, truth and lies become so intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit part of the story, especially when that truth is out of the norm or too complicated to be believed. This is why I think my son’s legal team chose to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit [à l’amiable] instead of contesting [les accusations] until the end, which had a ripple effect since the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.

“Many people wrongly convicted and then exonerated have been deprived of their liberty not because they were guilty of the crimes of which they were accused, but because they did not fit the image of what this society considers to be a good person.”

The rapper is already charged and imprisoned for trafficking for sexual exploitation. On October 9, his lawyers will request his release on bail. His mother concludes: “It is truly distressing to see the world turn against my son so quickly and easily based on lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or giving him the opportunity to present his side.”
