Central defender Dayot Upamecano is out of the French team’s Nations League matches against Israel and the Red Devils, for which he will be replaced by Loïc Badé, the French football federation (FFF) announced on Monday.
Victim of a muscle injury to the right hamstring during a German championship match in Frankfurt, according to the FFF press release, the Bayern Munich player (26 caps, 2 goals) leaves his place in the list of 23 to the defender of Sevilla FC.
Badé does not have any caps but was summoned for the first time to the September rally in order to compensate for Wesley Fofana’s loss. Injured before the defeat against Italy (1-3), he also left the group.
Coach Didier Deschamps is already deprived of his captain Kylian Mbappé, who was not selected even though he played last week with Real Madrid on Wednesday in the Champions League and Saturday in La Liga.
France faces Israel on Thursday in Budapest (Hungary) and Belgium at the King Baudouin stadium on Monday, October 14.
