While bad weather is becoming widespread across a large part of the country, temperatures remain very mild thanks to a southerly wind. The effects of Category 4 Hurricane Kirk will be felt mid-week.
Showers are becoming widespread across France this Monday, October 7, with thunderstorms expected in the Pyrenees, Jura and Alsace, forecasts The Weather Channel* in his weather report. The South is also affected by disruptions due to an episode in the Cévennes. The south wind nevertheless brings mildness to the temperatures.
In the morning, the weather is threatening with a few stormy showers in the South-West as well as in Languedoc. North of the Loire, the weather is calmer, but very cloudy, except near the English Channel where clearings are required. The mildness is present from daybreak with 12 to 20°C from Alsace to Provence.
Caution in the evening
In the afternoon, the weather is generally dry and mild despite a thick cloud cover, north of the Seine and in the Pyrenean foothills. From Vendée to Brittany via the Pays de la Loire, to the interior of Normandy, showers are developing.
It is in the south of the Massif Central and in the Center-East that the deterioration is most marked with showers and stormy rains which are increasing. Around the Mediterranean, the weather is also deteriorating sharply. In terms of temperatures, it is mild with 19 to 24°C from North to South.
The Weather Channel urges you to exercise caution from the start of the evening with increasing rain and a risk of hail in the South-West as far as Burgundy. These storms will then extend to the Mediterranean regions going up towards Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Franche-Comté during the night from Monday to Tuesday. A Cévennes episode then sets in.
Tuesday, weather conditions remain very agitated in the South and East with intense rains. On Wednesday, a strong gale is forecast due to the passage of Category 4 Hurricane Kirk, the effects of which will be felt on the French coasts until Thursday.
