Leipzig takes advantage of Bayern Munich’s misstep, caught by Frankfurt

Bayern Munich was caught on the wire in Frankfurt (3-3) on Sunday, during the shock of the 6th day of the Bundesliga, which kept all its promises with notably three goals from French players. The Bavarians, hung by Leverkusen (1-1) in the Bundesliga, then beaten by Aston Villa in the Champions League (1-0), thought they would end the week on a good note, but a goal from the Egyptian Omar Marmoush (90+ 4) deprived them of a success.

The Bavarians were the first dangerous when Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua Santos repelled with his fist a curling shot from Frenchman Michael Olise (14th). On the corner following this action, Thomas Müller put it back in a very selfless manner for the South Korean central defender Kim Min-jae, who sent the ball under the bar (15th, 1-0). But Eintracht Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush was quick to respond by finishing off a counter with a cross strike (22nd, 1-1). On another lethal counter, Marmoush turned into a passer for former PSG striker Hugo Ekitiké (35th, 2-1).

The Bavarians equalized through Dayot Upamecano. The French defender regained the ball after good work in the area from Serge Gnabry (38th, 2-2).

Marmoush in great shape

The offensive festival continued in the second period with a new goal from a Frenchman. Michael Olise, served by Harry Kane, gave Bayern the advantage (53rd, 3-2). This is the fourth goal this season in the Bundesliga for the Olympic silver medalist.

This was without counting on the realism of Frankfurt and its scorer Marmoush. On his only opportunity of the second period, he snatched the point from the draw for his team by scoring his eighth goal in the championship, after being served by Frenchman Eric-Junior Dina Ebimbe (90+4, 3-3). The Egyptian outdistances Kane (5 goals) in the scorers’ rankings.

One goal was enough for Leipzig

During a very dull first period against Heidenheim, we had to wait until the 42nd minute to see the first real opportunity. Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons faced the Heidenheim goalkeeper, but Kevin Müller won the duel by putting his body in opposition.

Leipzig thought they could resolve the situation after returning from the locker room, but Benjamin Sesko’s header, receiving a corner, was canceled after consultation with the VAR (53rd) for a foul by the Slovenian. Deliverance came from Loïs Openda. Perfectly launched from deep by Antonio Nusa, the former Lensois scored his fourth goal in the league (59th).
