The victory for Ancelotti’s men was marred by Carval’s serious injury. The Spanish left-back was hit in the knee and left his partners in tears a few minutes before the end of the match.
After contact with Yeremy Pino, the Spanish full-back saw his right leg lock and his knee make a movement that was far from natural. His screams cooled the Santiago Bernabeu.
At the end of the match, Valverde seemed to be worried about the injury. The midfielder didn’t even celebrate his team’s three points: “Winning doesn’t matter to us anymore. We all hope that Carvajal will be fine, that’s what matters.” Valverde said.
