No Man’s Sky developer touts its stellar performance

Recently, little information has circulated regarding the PS5 Pro, except for comments collected by Sony on the official PlayStation blog. However, Martin Griffiths, engine programmer for No Man’s Sky, shared his excitement on Twitter (X) about this new hardware, revealing his thoughts on this technological advancement.

In a tweet accompanied by a stunning screenshot, Griffiths expressed his delight at No Man’s Sky’s new designation as a PS5 Pro-optimized title on the PlayStation Store. As a programmer who has worked on every generation of PlayStation since the PS1, he considers this console to be truly impressive.

When discussing his personal experiences, he mentioned spending time virtually in line to pre-order his PS5 Pro. He said it’s fascinating to see a prototype evolve into a reality thanks to the hard work of thousands of people to deliver a console with more than 50 titles at launch. He shared that the excitement of trying out a new development kit remains intact, as does the thrill of turning on a game on the console for the first time.

Griffiths’ praise proves significant, given his experience in the industry. He contributed to various games such as Populous: The Beginning, Dungeon Keeper 2, and Quake III before joining Hello Games to work on No Man’s Sky, which is among the 56 games confirmed as improved for the PS5 Pro.

For now, the British studio has not yet disclosed how it plans to take advantage of the increased power of the PS5 Pro. Interestingly, No Man’s Sky is already running in 4K at 60 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series 4K@120FPS or optimize graphics settings.

An update option could include ray tracing effects, which, as of today, are not present even in the PC version of the game. Developers will have to get creative to take advantage of the new console’s capabilities while still preserving the immersive experience players expect.

The release of the PS5 Pro is scheduled for November 7 at $699. This launch is generating great anticipation among gamers and the developer community. The journey to this milestone is the result of intensive collective effort, and Griffiths’ enthusiasm is a testament to the passion that drives those who create these video game experiences.
