Preparations lasted a month. Since the beginning of September, and until the opening of Folie’Flore on October 3, 2024, activity has been in full swing at the Mulhouse exhibition center. We must prepare the 11,000 m2 exhibition, with numerous plants, but also this year, and this is new, sand sculptures. Like Poseidon and his trident, the headliner of Folie’Flore this year.
140 tons of sand sculptures
In a few weeks, the god of the sea goes from a large pile of sand weighing 25 to 30 tons piled up under a capital to a majestic statue. And for that, you need huge formworks, and a rammer,

Five sculptors are on site to create an entire aquatic settingwith shovels at the beginning, then trowels for the finishing touches, Poseidon therefore, accompanied by Antinéa, the goddess of Atlantis, as well as underwater creatures and inevitably, plants. In total, 140 tons of sand will be sculpted, lightly watered before solidifying.
Also worth discovering are play areas for children and the highlight of the show, the “water garden” with three pools and a metal flower placed in the center. All of the plants and trees on display will then be replanted in the green spaces of the city of Mulhouse.
Folie’Flore is held at the Parc Expos in Mulhouse from October 3 to 13. The ticket costs €6.50. The event takes place in parallel with the October Days which bring together 280 exhibitors around flowers.
