In recent days, rumors have intensified around Rodri’s future replacement at Manchester City.
Who to replace Rodri? The player, who will be absent all season, will see competition coming. According to several sources, the club’s leaders have made Samuele Ricci, Torino midfielder, their priority. Aged 23, Ricci is, however, only one of the options being considered.
Frenkie De Jong could well land at Manchester United… or City. According to information from Spain, notably from Fichajes, Pep Guardiola’s club is seriously considering repatriating the ex-Ajax player to the Premier League.
PSG no longer so interested?
PSG is still keeping an eye on Jong, but he no longer seems to be a priority since the tactical shift towards the recruitment of young players with high potential.
This transfer to City seems all the more possible as FC Barcelona has been seeking to part ways with it for several months. An agreement has even been reached to settle the 18 million euros in unpaid wages, on the condition that De Jong leaves the club in 2025.
The player, however, broke his silence in the Spanish press… to express his desire to stay at Barça. “I am gradually regaining confidence in myself to kick the ball, to show commitment. I’ll be back soon. It’s very frustrating for a player who breathes football to be sidelined. Be captain of Barça? It’s a source of pride. I will give everything as always and try to set a good example for people and my teammates,” he concluded.
