ATP > Shapovalov: “In my opinion, if players earned a decent living during the season, they would not feel the need to participate in exhibitions”

And while some observers criticize the Spaniard for complaining while participating in numerous exhibitions, John Millman then Denis Shapovalov brought surprising arguments given that the players invited to these exhibitions are often the best and therefore those who win the more money throughout the year.

“In my opinion, if players earned a decent living during the season, they wouldn’t feel the need to play exhibitions during slow times. Instead, players (apart from perhaps the top 20) only earn a decent living 4 times a year (the Grand Slam tournaments). So it’s a no-brainer for players to play exhibitions to earn money.”wrote Denis Shapovalov.
