The red beards will have to wait… There were uncertainties, but it is now official: Benjamin Dutreux will not sail up the Sables-d'Olonne channel this Sunday, January 26.

Despite a certain optimism at the start of the morning, the organization chose security. The swell and strong winds are too strong to guarantee safe passage up the channel.

Due to the unfavorable weather conditions forecast for this Sunday and Monday, with a strong southerly wind and a powerful swell, making the Sables d'Olonne channel impassable, the skipper and his technical team, in consultation with the organization, took the decision to head towards La Rochelle after crossing the finish line of the Vendée Globe. The sea conditions, less unfavorable in La Rochelle, will allow the team and the boat to take shelter for the next 24 hours.
