After the end of the 2024 season, it's time to take stock. The ATP offers a best of of the most significant events of the year on its website.

While the meeting in Beijing between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz was voted the best match of the last twelve months, the ATP also made a top 5 of the biggest surprises of the season in Grand Slams.

Without any real discussion possible, Botic van de Zandschulp's victory against Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the US Open (6-1, 7-5, 6-4) places him at the top of this ranking.

Announced as one of the favorites for the title in New York, the Spaniard fell hard against the Dutchman and fell in three short sets even before the second week.

In second place, we find the success of Arthur Cazaux against Holger Rune, then seeded n°8, in the second round of the Australian Open (7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6- 3).

The Frenchman produced a monumental performance to defeat the Dane. The native then eliminated Tallon Griekspoor before falling in the round of 16 against Hubert Hurkacz.

On the third step of the podium, it is Francisco Comesana who appears with his prestigious success in the first round of Wimbledon against Andrey Rublev (6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6).

It was his very first match on the ATP circuit and therefore on grass and the Argentinian claimed the scalp of the No. 6 seed in London.

In the top 4, Alexei Popyrin's victory against Novak Djokovic in the third round of the US Open (6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4) is also represented.

The 25-year-old Australian arrived with full confidence to begin the last Grand Slam of the year since he had just won his first Masters 1000 in Montreal a few weeks earlier.

Finally, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard completes the casting for the first five places.

Opposed to Sebastian Korda, always dangerous on grass, the Frenchman was impressive in serving to disgust the American in the first round (7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3) before being eliminated by a solid Lorenzo Musetti in the round of 16.
