Recently asked about his famous victory against Roger Federer in the final of the 2019 edition of Wimbledon, a match during which he had to save two match points in a row on the Swiss' serve in the fifth set, Novak Djokovic admitted that he was not the best player on the court that day.

“It was a match in which he was the best player. You know, statistically, if you see, he won more points, simply because all the statistics were on his side. He broke my serve and he served for the victory, I think at 8–7 in the 5e set, 40–15 behind. You know, I just tried to make him play, to make him deserve his victory. It was probably the most nerve-wracking match I've ever been a part of, but I found a way to win it. »
