As he prepares to end his career next week at the ATP 500 in Vienna, Dominic Thiem gave an interview to Majors in which he shares a strong opinion on the post-Big 3.

“I think it wasn’t easier before, and it wasn’t easier afterward. A lot of people were saying: ‘once Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are gone, it will be much easier for all the players of my generation, Daniil, Sasha, Stefanos and all these players.’ And then what happens? Carlos arrived, then Jannik. And now you find yourself in a similar situation if you want to win a big title. You must beat them both. They won all four Grand Slams in 2024. So the situation hasn’t really changed. I think it will be the same in, I don’t know, 15 years or something. People will say: ‘OK, now, if Carlos and Jannik stop, it will be easier for the others’. But again, new guys will come. It’s always been like this in the history of tennis. I think it always will be. »
