ATP, France > Marion Bartoli without pity with Benoît Paire: “I’m sorry, I relapsed, but I had to talk about it. It was too funny for me to let it go”

The Benoît Paire case was debated at length on RMC Sports after the Tricolore’s indigestible performance in the first round of the Challenger (beaten 6–0, 6–1 in 37 minutes).

While Sarah Pitkowski considered his behavior unacceptable and Stephen Brun felt that he took people for fools, Marion Bartoli, whose war with the current 260e world is not new, preferred to show irony.

“It made me laugh a lot. 37 minutes is still extremely short. Nicolas Mahut (the tournament director) tried as best he could not to overwhelm him too much. That’s what made me laugh the most. He said he had had infiltrations in his wrist and that he had come to test himself in a match… We have all the training in the world to test ourselves. That’s strong. Losing in 37 minutes… It obviously made me laugh, I’m sorry, I relapsed, but I had to talk about it. It didn’t annoy me. I’m not going to overwhelm him even more, it’s the excuse he found that makes me laugh. It was too funny for me to let it go.”
