PS5: the 5 ultimate tips to extend the autonomy of the DualSense controller

At best, you get 10-15 hours of gameplay without having to plug the DualSense into the console via the USB-C cable. Alas, it is often less. Fortunately, this is not a fatality.

By modifying the parameters of the device on a case-by-case basis, it is possible to significantly improve its autonomy. Discover below the action plan in 5 points.

1. The microphone

Whether you use it or not, the DualSense’s microphone is activated by default as soon as the controller is connected to the console. This microphone is then on the lookout, leaving to consume energy for nothing. It is possible to disable it manually via the button below the PS button. But who really thinks about it?

Under these conditions, you might as well neutralize this automatic activation via the Settings of the PlayStation 5.

  • Settings > Her > Microphone > Microphone status after connection > Disabled.

2. Vibration intensity

Controller vibrations enhance immersion in the game but consume energy. It is possible to make a compromise: reduce this haptic feedback to an acceptable level and thus recover autonomy.

  • Push the button PS on the DualSense controller > press Accessory in the bar at the bottom of the screen > DualSense wireless controller > Gamepad settings > Vibration intensity > Mean.

3. The intensity of the trigger effect

The trigger effect (or adaptive trigger) is often spectacular but energy-intensive. By reducing its intensity to the medium level, the sensation remains convincing and the gain in autonomy is substantial.

  • Push the button PS on the DualSense controller > press Accessory in the bar at the bottom of the screen > DualSense wireless controller > Gamepad settings > Trigger effect intensity > Mean.

4. Speaker volume

The small speaker of the DualSense consumes little, but still consumes. Reducing its volume allows a minimal gain in autonomy, but a gain nonetheless.

  • Push the button PS on the DualSense controller > press Accessory in the bar at the bottom of the screen > DualSense wireless controller > Gamepad settings > Controller speaker > Reduce the volume to half.

5. Brightness of indicators

It’s like the speaker volume. By decreasing the brightness of the controller indicators, the energy gain will not be wonderful, but it will be added to the other efforts made.

  • Push the button PS DualSense controller > Accessory in the bar at the bottom of the screen > DualSense wireless controller > Gamepad settings > Brightness of controller indicators > Mean.
