Google now integrates AI into Workspace as standard!

Google announces a slight increase in the price of its Workspace Business (and Workspace Enterprise) collaborative suite but now includes the “Gemini for Workspace” AI functionality as standard, previously billed extra! A huge setback and a huge slap in the face for Microsoft, which will have a hard time justifying its “Microsoft 365 Copilot” subscription, which is struggling to convince users and IT departments alike!

It’s a huge bomb dropped by Google on Wednesday afternoon : No need for a separate and expensive subscription to take advantage of the “Gemini for Workspace” AI features within the Google Workspace collaborative suite!

The American firm is convinced that everyone needs these features that make everyday life so much easier. And as with Gemini 2.0 Flash, Google has deeply optimized its AI, they are now no longer as expensive to operate.

SO Google formalizes the news that ultimately everyone was waiting for or at least hoping for: the standard integration of AI functionalities to make them accessible to everyone with a slight price increase for Google Workspace Business (and Google Workspace Enterprise) subscriptions.

In other words, Google formalizes a price increase for its professional collaborative suite but now integrates AI : the formula “ Workspace Business Standard » thus passes from 12 has 14 dollars per user per month. In return, all artificial intelligence features already available as an extra in Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Meet become accessible at no additional cost. Remember that, until now, companies wishing to activate all of these tools had to pay a monthly supplement of $20 per user per month for the Gemini option.

Typically, in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, Chat, Vids and other suite services, The AI Gemini allows of to summarize, write et find quickly information in emails, chats and files. It also makes it easy to create documents, slideshows, tables and videos, while optimizing meetings with automated note-taking and audio/video enhancement. In the event of a delay, a summary of current exchanges is even available.
At the same time, Gemini Advanced takes support further in terms of coding, research or data analysis, with the possibility of creating tailor-made “Gems” to automate recurring or specialized tasks.
Finally, the integration of NotebookLM Plus paves the way for enhanced collaboration thanks to instant audio analyzes and summaries, developed from imported documents.

From now on, new customers will be billed at the new rate (old customers will see the new rates apply in March 2025). Holders of the Gemini option will obviously continue to benefit from it and will no longer be billed after January 31. As for Google Workspace “without Gemini”, it disappears from the offer.

This announcement comes against a backdrop of increased rivalry between major AI technology players: Microsoft recently made the decision (without official announcement) to integrate its Copilot Pro suite into the personal and family subscription of Microsoft 365 but only in certain countries (Thailand, Australia, etc.) and not in . Features “ Copilot Pro » general public which are in any case not equivalent to the advanced functionalities of “Copilot for Microsoft 365”. Enough to create ever more confusion, more complexity and more illegibility in its already unconvincing AI offer. Quite the opposite of today’s Google ad which is simple and effective here.

Brief Google hits a big blow and Microsoft this time will not be able to remain without reacting while many CIOs are still not convinced of the real value of “Microsoft 365 Copilot” and many users prefer to use ChatGPT Plus or Claude AI instead alongside Office applications to simplify their daily lives.
