Asus has already revealed several new devices this month, after showing off a slew of ROG, Vivobook and Zenbook devices at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Today, the company officially confirmed that it will soon update the Zenfone series with a direct successor to last year’s Zenfone 11 Ultra (currently $899.99 at Amazon).
Asus remains tight-lipped on many details for now, including the appearance of the device. However, Asus revealed that it will unveil the Zenfone 12 Ultra on February 6 at an event scheduled for 06:30 UTC. As seen in the image below, the Zenfone 12 Ultra will be capable of shooting 4K video for extended periods of time with autofocus and subject enabled. Other technical details regarding the device have not yet been confirmed.
That being said, we can make an educated guess on the Zenfone 12 Ultra based on the origins of its predecessor. In short, Asus used the ROG Phone 8 as the basis for the Zenfone 11 Ultra. Therefore, the Zenfone 12 Ultra will likely share almost all of its specifications with the ROG Phone 9 which we tested a few months ago with a Snapdragon 8 Elite and a 6.8-inch AMOLED display combining a 185 refresh rate Hz and a brightness of over 1,600 nits.
