The folding iPhone project confirmed by this renowned analyst?

While rumors are rife regarding a possible folding iPhone, new information today sows doubt. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a specialist in the Apple firm, a translation error would have led to a misinterpretation of his words. The imminent arrival of a foldable iPhone would ultimately be called into question.

However, signs have been multiplying lately, suggesting that Apple is actively working on this project. Several patents have been filed, describing technological innovations related to flexible screens. At the same time, there are reports of two folding iPhone models already in development in Cupertino laboratories.

An erroneous translation that changes the situation

It was a machine translation of a Chinese blog post by Ming-Chi Kuo that caused the confusion. Originally interpreted as announcing entry into mass production from the second half of 2025this information ultimately turns out to be incorrect.

Ming-Chi Kuo then shared an English version of his text, specifying that such a device was still in the planning stage at Apple. He would be only compatible with eSIMlike a future ultra-thin iPhone also in development. The analyst points out that the lack of support for physical SIM cards could be a barrier in the Chinese market.

A release schedule still uncertain

If the arrival of a folding iPhone seems inevitable, its exact timing remains unclear. The majority of analysts agree on 2026 or 2027 as the most likely dates. Faced with these imprecise forecasts, one certainty remains: Apple is actively exploring the foldable device segment.

The firm is multiplying its patent filings, describing ingenious hinges and ultra-resistant multilayer screens. It remains to be seen whether an iPhone or iPad will lead the way.
