The cultural work of the year: Les Gouttes de Dieu, the thrill of blind wine on

It was a great success in bookstores (more than two million copies sold in ), it was also a success on television. Drops of Godwhose eight episodes were broadcast last spring on France 2, brought together an average of two million viewers in front of their screens over three weeks; enough to discourage those who claim that wine no longer interests the general public.

The screenwriters intelligently brought to the screen the manga created by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto (“RVF Personalities” of the year 2010!), adapting the initial scenario in order to stage the confrontation between Camille (played by Fleur Geffrier) and young wine expert Tomine Issei (played by Japanese actor Tomohisa Yamashita). While managing to transcribe, despite the barrier of the screen, the sensations and flavors that a blind wine tasting can provide. The Franco-Japanese co-production also beautifully depicted our vineyard, most of the scenes having been filmed at Château de Beaucastel, the emblematic property of the Perrin family in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

At a time when talking about wine on television is less and less possible because of the Évin law and when the news more often rhymes wine with de-consumption, we had to salute Les Gouttes de Dieu, including a second season would also be in preparation.

Series of eight 52-minute episodes available for replay on France 2 and Apple
