Have you ever wondered how to find the password for that Wi-Fi network you saved months ago? Here is a guide for Android and iPhone that will allow you to easily access this information.
Café, office, gym… Each place has its Wi-Fi network. But what to do when you need to find one of these passwords? Fortunately, both Android and iOS offer solutions for accessing this information.
For Android users (Android 10 and later)
Android (Google Pixel, etc.)
Stock Android is the pure Android experience, as Google designed it. It's also the most intuitive for accessing Wi-Fi passwords.
Here is the detailed procedure:
- Open your phone's Settings
- You can access it through the applications menu
- Or by swiping down to open the shortcuts panel
- Go to “Network and Internet” then “Internet” (or “Wi-Fi”)
- The nomenclature may vary slightly depending on the Android version
- Look for anything that refers to Wi-Fi
- To see the current network password:
- Tap the network you are connected to
- Tap the “Share” icon
- Authenticate with your fingerprint or PIN code
- The password will appear in plain text under the QR code
Special Samsung (One UI)
Samsung, with its One UI interface, offers a different approach. The Korean brand has added a few additional security steps:
- Initial navigation
- Open Settings
- Go to “Connections”
- Select “Wi-Fi”
- QR code access
- Tap the gear near the current network
- Choose “QR Code”
- Save the code image
- Using Google Lens
- Open Google Lens from Google Photos or the dedicated app
- Scan the saved image
- The password will appear in the scan
Apple's elegant solution (iOS 16+)
Apple, faithful to its philosophy of simplicity, offers a particularly effective approach.
You have to go to the settings
- In the Settings
- Open the Settings app
- Go to the Wi-Fi section
- Make sure you are connected to the network
- Access to information
- Tap the blue (i) icon
- Keep pressing the password “……..”
