The objective of the European Parliament is to force manufacturers to make their phones, laptops, cameras and headsets compatible so that this unique charger simplifies the life of citizens but also reduces the costs linked to the purchase of these devices while reducing the volume of waste. This is real European progress.
“We had to put an end to drawers filled with 1001 cables and this aberration, both environmental and in terms of consumer rights! »
Cheaper – less waste – less bureaucracy
The advantages of such a measure:
Cheaper : this should have an impact on the price from the moment it is no longer useful to buy the device with its charger.
Less waste : the volume of waste will decrease significantly because there will no longer be obsolete chargers. Remember that 47% of has-been cell phones are lying around at the bottom of the drawer, 25% are given to loved ones, 16% are resold and only 3% are recycled.
Less bureaucracy : customers will have to complete fewer administrative formalities because manufacturers will be able to opt for a simplified declaration of product conformity.
54 cell phones per second
54 cell phones are sold every second in the world, or 1.7 billion per year and therefore just as many chargers. The single charger means more comfort for the European consumer, for their wallet but also for our environment.
