Instagram has just unveiled an evolution of its filters with the integration of artificial intelligence. Enough to extend the creative horizons and blur the boundaries of reality even more.
It was on Instagram that Adam Mosseri, head of the network, chose to share his new discovery. The social network plans to launch a new version of its filters by 2025, the results of which are more than astonishing.
New AI filters
To create these new filters, Instagram relies on Movie Gen, the artificial intelligence of the Meta group, to which the network belongs. This AI is capable of generating videos from simple text commands. For the moment, the functionality is still under development at Instagram, and Mosseri did not reveal in detail how these filters work, other than that they will allow access to “everything you can think of”. We can see Mosseri changing clothes, settings or even appearance, while maintaining fluidity in his movements and without slowing down. In short extracts, it would easily be possible not to recognize the application of the filter.
These new filters open the door to new creations, but also raise many questions. How can we identify these videos with ever more realistic effects? How can we protect ourselves from the creation of false information with this technology? How can we protect the mental health of more or less young audiences, faced with the appearance of models that may never exist in reality?
