This cover maker already knows everything about the Switch 2

Nintendo has already confirmed: an announcement will be made regarding the Switch 2 by the end of March 2025 (the end of the company’s fiscal year). Another short quarter to wait, therefore, during which the rate of leaks will inevitably accelerate. Sold more than 160 million copies, the Switch is one of the most popular consoles to ever exist.

The exact dimensions of the console are known

Dbrand is a manufacturer of covers, shells and other personalization and protection accessories for smartphones, computers and of course game consoles. Last weekend, the brand put the page of a new cover online. protection, called Killswitch 2… intended for the Switch 2, which is not yet announced and even less available on the market.

A bluff? Not in the least, assures The Verge the boss of the company Adam Ijaz. The dimensions of its new protective shell are based on “the true dimensions” of the Switch 2, which would have been acquired thanks to a “3D scan of the real console”. Questioned by the American site on how he obtained this data, the person concerned simply replied “nice try, Nintendo”.

According to Dbrand, the Nintendo Switch 2 will measure 270mm wide, 116mm high and 14mm thick. By comparing these dimensions with those of the Nintendo Switch OLED (242x102x13.9 mm), we therefore obtain a slightly larger console at all levels. The screen of the future Nintendo console should also offer a diagonal of 8” – compared to 7” for the Nintendo Switch OLED, and 6.2” for the classic Switch.

Still many questions

Transparent, the Dbrand shell reveals the red and turquoise Joy-con controllers of the console. One detail stands out: we can see an additional button, located at the foot of the right Joy-con. It’s a square-looking key that, according to Dbrand’s CEO, is marked with the letter “C.”

All of these elements align with the video from the YouTube channel SwitchUp, which claims that a case manufacturer sent it a prototype of Switch 2. A console clearly larger than the current Switch OLED… and which displays a button square at the bottom of the right Joy-con.

Among the other features of the Switch 2, we will note the appearance of a second USB-C port, which will allow the console to be recharged more conveniently when it is placed on its stand, for example.

However, we still don’t know if Nintendo will offer an OLED screen for its new generation Switch, or if it will switch back to LCD – which could be experienced as a regression by many. Still, we now know that the Switch 2 will indeed support current Switch games. Something to reassure those who have an overflowing games library.
