The Dimensity 8400 is touted as a processor with a new Immortalis GPU and new CPU cores in a Weibo leak

The rumored successor to MediaTek’s MediaTek Dimensity 8300 model would be a 4-nanometer (4nm) processor with at least one of the latest ARM processor cores for mobile devices. Now, the ubiquitous Digital Chat Station leak claims to confirm these rumors and add other potentially interesting details.

The 8400 will have a single core cluster at a near quality level of 3.25 GHz, accompanied by 3 more at 3 GHz and 4 more at 2.15 GHz for a total of 8 as usual.

The clusters are in fact all slower than their 8300-Ultra counterparts – but the latter are made up of Cortex-A715 or A510 processors while those of the 8400 will be new A725 cores – all, according to the famous leaker’s latest post on the subject.

Furthermore, Digital Chat Station claims that none of them are particularly intended to be ‘effective’.

The upcoming SoC will also have a new MC7 variant of the Immortalis-G720 processor although it could be faster at 1.3GHz. Regardless, it’s now said to power the 8400 to scores of around 1.8 million on the AnTuTu test.

The identity of the world’s first Dimensity 8400 smartphone remains a mystery at this point, although the rumored Oppo Find X8S, a successor to Redmi’s Redmi K70E, or Realme’s Neo6 SE could be viable candidates. Meanwhile, the processor is expected to launch on December 23, 2024.

The Poco X6 Pro is now $324.99 at Amazon
