The Le Berceau nursery evacuated as a precaution in Marbais

A team from the Orne-Thyle police zone, municipal services and Mayor Emmanuel Burton also went to the scene once the alert was given.

“Apparently, since Thursday, several cases of vomiting have been reported, explained Mayor Burton as the emergency response ended. As we are in a period where there are quite a few sick people, it did not seem entirely abnormal. But it happened again until Monday. And as at the same time, there have been problems with the boiler recently, on the advice of a doctor, the evacuation was decided for suspicion of a CO problem.”

The parents were all notified of the situation and were able to pick up their children on site. When the firefighters intervened and measured the CO level inside the different rooms of the nursery, they did not actually detect any anomaly. But as the doors had been opened to allow people to evacuate, these measures had to be refined.

Around 5 p.m., the problem had not been identified with certainty and it was not certain that CO was the cause.

“The theory of food poisoning seems to have been ruled outindicated the mayor of Villersois. But we don’t know at the moment if it’s a CO problem because of the boiler, if it’s a virus circulating, or if there is another explanation. We are obviously not going to take any risks: as a precaution, all the facilities will be checked before welcoming the children and staff again. Which means that on Tuesday morning, the nursery will remain closed. The parents have just been notified by telephone.”
