Rumor: first look at the new Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con

A new Nintendo Switch 2 leak has appeared online, originating from China, seemingly revealing a first look at Nintendo's upcoming console's new Joy-Con controller. The leak comes specifically from Chinese site Bilibili, where an anonymous user shared multiple angles of what they claim are the new Nintendo Switch 2 controllers. However, the images have been heavily blurred, presumably to protect the identity of the source.

So, as we can see below — thanks to a new post on the Nintendo Switch 2 Reddit page — the supposed Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con looks a lot like the current Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller . However, there appears to be an additional button on the back of the controllers, which looks like some sort of rear trigger.

Although China may seem like a random location for such a leak, it is nothing unusual. As with other video game consoles, the Nintendo Switch 2 is mass-produced in China. And usually, when unreleased hardware goes into mass production, leaks start to appear. This is why video game hardware is often revealed before or during the start of this production in order to prevent this type of leak.

If this leak indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 is indeed in mass production, then the console's release date probably isn't too far away. Previously, rumors had suggested a release in the first quarter of 2025. If it is already in mass production, it is entirely possible that it will be released in this slot. For comparison, the first Nintendo Switch was released in March and was a huge success. As of now, at the time of publication, Nintendo has not made any comment on this alleged leak.
